Brooke Armstrong is a Bay Area painter, photographer and filmmaker whose vibrant work plays with shadow, unexpected shape and surreal color. She delights in strange contrast, as can be seen in her Romantic Industrial photography series, where she creates feminine dreamscapes out of hard-edged machinery. Brooke's painting style is more raw and expressionistic, as she explores the untamed energy humming within human and animal life. She has a background in Design Thinking and a PhD in Neuroscience, and she’s taught both at Stanford, UCSD and UC Berkeley.
